Event Success! Middle School Math Tournament

An initiative by three Science and Technology Honors Program freshmen, the UAB Middle School Math Tournament is a completely student-run event that takes place on UAB’s campus annually. This tournament was designed to encourage and spread the love for math, as well as allow young math-lovers to meet and engage in friendly competition. Last fall, the program hosted its first tournament and successfully attracted 7 middle schools from the Birmingham area to participate in this exciting event. Based on the success from the first year, the program prepared for its second math tournament since the beginning of this year by writing tests, arranging rooms, getting sponsors, and contacting schools. This year’s tournament, held on Saturday, October 28th in the BEC, was a huge success. All the student volunteers did a phenomenal job with this project.
